Some East Indian Inspired Meals

The Foodie and his family recently visited Apna Desi Meat Market in North East Calgary to pick up some Tandoori marinated wings, some chicken kebabs and Naan bread.  What a little treasure.  Thanks to a family friend to pointing it out.

 

 

We picked up a couple pounds of wings, some medium and some spicy.  I’m sure the butcher threw a few extra in as we paid for more than 2 pounds of wings.  Since I was using a small portable grill for these I decided to pre-cook them in the oven first.  Almost cook them completely, then put them on the grill to crisp up.

 

We didn’t really notice any difference between the medium and spicy, so that makes it easier in the future.  We also had some large Samosas with the wings.  Sadly I didn’t get a pic of them, but we got the vegetable versions and with the mint chutney, there were very delicious.

 

As you can see from the paper bag, the Samosas were cooked in the store before getting to us.  Needless to say, we had to sample them on the way home.  Quality control after all!

 

The next day, we heated up the chick kebabs and served them with the Naan, also warmed up on the grill.

 

 

Sadly it took us a long time to get around to visiting them and we certainly are thankful we have.  We’ll definitely be going back in the future and certainly any time we visit Calgary, we’ll bring home some.
